After Covid-19 meant a highly popular event had to be cancelled, it is being replaced by the ‘Autumn Busman’s Holiday Road Run’ across Cambridgeshire and into Northamptonshire on 11 October.
Fenland BusFest, normally held in May, attracts thousands of people, being based in the main Street at Whittlesey, Cambs which is cordoned off for the event. Now the organisers, Eastern Bus Enthusiasts (EBE), have decided to hold a replacement event. “So many people have said how much they missed BusFest, but it would have been impossible to hold it in May,” said EBE spokesman, Connexions bus driver Stephen Longmire. “Then we decided to go for an October BusFest but the new regulations make this impossible. We wanted to do something to show people the vehicles we’ve been working on – and pledge our support for the bus industry – so have opted for the road runs.”
