The downturn in visitor numbers this year is being used to its advantage at the London Bus Museum, reports Nick Larkin
One of Britain’s best-known bus museums is closing from Monday 2 November for a major revamp. The London Bus Museum has been based at its current home for the past ten years, with a purpose-built facility on the Brooklands Museum site in Surrey.
“Since we opened the mix of our visitors has changed greatly, the bus enthusiast has dwindled being replaced by the family with many more children. It’s hardly surprising as it’s rare to see someone standing outside a bus garage ‘spotting’ numbers as it was in the 1950s, ’60s and even the ’70s,” said museum spokesman Deryck Fill.
