The high-profile failure of a number of leading travel companies over the past year following the arrival of Covid-19 has resulted in a number of insurers withdrawing from or scaling back their commitments in the travel surety insurance market. Coach and bus insurance broker Wrightsure says that despite this, it is delighted that one of its specialist surety insurers continues to welcome applications for consumer protection insurance.
Andrew Day, Wrightsure’s specialist for this sector said: “Due to the reduction in insurer capacity facing the industry, a number of businesses have been forced to investigate alternative ways of complying with the Package Travel & Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 from a consumer protection perspective. Accordingly, we are currently in discussions with a number of leading industry stakeholders to ensure that, where possible, we can provide the UK coach industry with a solution to ensure travel companies are able to trade in a legal and compliant manner. This is particularly important should it transpire the Financial Failure or Bonding route is not the right way forward for them.
“As a specialist in the field of specific surety insurance broking to the UK coach and bus industry, I would be delighted to undertake a complimentary review of any operator’s incumbent consumer protection arrangements to see how Wrightsure may be able to be of assistance to them.
“A 10-minute telephone consultation, without obligation or cost, could be of benefit to them and I would urge anyone to get in touch for an informal chat, to see how I may be able to be of assistance to them.”
