The DVSA has launched a consultation seeking views from interested parties and stakeholders on proposed changes to minibus, bus, coach and HGV driving tests. The proposed changes were announced on 20 July as part of a suite of measures aimed at tackling the current driver shortage.
The consultation covers proposed changes to current requirements to obtain a vocational driving licence, including allowing coach or bus drivers who wish to tow a trailer to take one test with a trailer, rather than having to pass a test without a trailer first, and allowing the off-road manoeuvring part of the driving test to be assessed by the driver training industry, as well as other changes related to car and HGV licences.
The consultation will be open for 4 weeks and run until 2359hrs on 7 September.
