London bus operator Abellio has committed to continue working with 21st Century Fleet Systems, a Journeo company, for a further three years following the renewal of a framework agreement.
Under the contract, 21st Century will continue to provide CCTV and associated equipment on all new Abellio buses along with those transferred into the company’s fleet via competitive tendering in London.
In addition, approximately 200 vehicles already installed with the Journeo EDGE intelligent IoT gateway will be connected into a new cloud-based Video Management System (VMS), Journeo Transit, making Abellio one of the first London operators to benefit from 4G video transfer.
The Journeo Transit platform also allows Abellio to connect a wide array of other systems on the bus into a central cloud-server offering fast, secure and real-time access to information as well as being able to integrate future technology options, a number of which are already included within the framework.
Jon Eardley, Engineering Director at Abellio London, commented: “We have chosen 21st Century and Journeo to be our technical services partner, based on their innovative approach to supporting and upgrading all our on-board systems.”
Russ Singleton, Journeo Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are delighted that Abellio have asked us to continue providing support services for their safety-critical video systems and supply our innovative solutions for their London bus fleet. Our R&D, engineering network and dedicated London support team has helped Abellio consistently achieve first-place rankings in Transport for London’s (TfL) measurement of CCTV systems availability and our latest IoT systems provide further enhancements, making Abellio amongst the most advanced public transport fleet operators.”
