Lincolnshire operator AC Williams has opted to expand its fleet with seven new Mercedes-Benz Tourismos from Evobus UK – a total investment of £1.7m.

Currently, the firm operates over 30 vehicles, its fleet ranging from double-deckers to wheelchair-accessible vehicles.

AC Williams carries out a number of school contracts, and is also involved in commercial contracts, local private hire and tour work.

At the heart of the Tourismo is the 10.7-litre OM437 Euro VI diesel.

This is coupled to the familiar ZF EcoLife gearbox or, alternatively, Mercedes-Benz’s own Powershift unit.

Each example delivered to AC Williams seats 53, and all are built to touring specification, meaning three-point seatbelts, centre-sunken toilets, full two-zone climate control and a multimedia system.

Standard safety features include Front Collision Guard, Advanced Braking System and Lane Assist.

David Pratt, Managing Director of AC Williams, said: “Following very successful trials of the Tourismo we found Mercedes-Benz to be the best all round vehicle for the fleet.

“Its performance and fuel economy coupled with the three-pointed star passenger appeal meant it was ideal for us.”

Executive Chairman of AC Williams, Glen Pratt, added: “We provide a valuable service to our local communities and are benefiting from new business in the domestic and international tourist sector.

“We continue to invest heavily in new vehicles as we win new business across the country.

“This is great news for our Lincolnshire-based workforce. Plans are now in place to expand into London and the South East.”
