Comfort DelGro-owned Adventure Travel has secured agreements to operate two routes formerly operated by Easyway, which is to cease trading at the end of July

South Wales operator Adventure Travel has secured an agreement with the Vale of Glamorgan council to run routes 88 and B3 from 1 August to provide a seamless service provision for both services when current operator Easyway ceases trading at the end of July.

Route 88 connects Penarth and Barry, while the B3 operates within Barry. Adventure Travel, which operates urban and rural services across South Wales, is currently recruiting drivers and obtaining vehicles to operate the new additions to its portfolio and has promised no disruption to passengers.

Adventure Travel Managing Director Adam Keen said: “Regrettably, Easyway – which has a great local reputation – has taken the decision to cease trading. We are pleased, however, to be in a position to intervene and assume control of the Barry and Penarth services and will continue to run both routes with no changes to the current timetables. These services fit in well with our long-term strategy to grow our business and provide useful services for the people of South Wales.

“We are currently finalising the logistics of the newly-acquired routes and we look forward to continuing the high levels of service provided by the current operator. We will staff the routes with a small team of regular drivers, some of whom we hope will come to us from Easyway, so that passengers on the 88 and B3 can continue to build up a rapport with the drivers who operate their services.”

Councillor Bronwen Brookes, Cabinet Member for Sustainable Places at Vale of Glamorgan Council, said: “It is extremely sad to see the demise of Easyway, a company that has provided supported local bus and school transport services for the Vale of Glamorgan for many years. Easyway has been a much-respected operator in this area and will be greatly missed. However, I am pleased that the Council is able to provide financial support for continued service provision for supported local bus services 88 and B3. Adventure Travel will operate these services moving forwards, continuing vital provision for the local communities they serve.”
