Managing Partner Richard Bamber quote’s BASE’s ‘superb aftersales service’ as a key reason for choosing the vehicle

Anthony’s Travel has confirmed its latest vehicle order; a 12.4m MAN RR2-powered Barbi Galileo. The new coach will be joining the North West operator’s fleet on March 1, 2016.

The vehicle will be the second of its kind to enter the UK market. The first will be operated by Holmeswood Coaches, and is due to arrive in the UK from Italy on Saturday, September 26. It will be seen for the first time on the BASE Coach Sales stand at Coach and Bus Live on September 30, alongside a tri-axle 13.8m Barbi.

The vehicle Anthony’s Travel is specified with 49 reclining seats, washroom, wood effect flooring, full climate control and a wheelchair lift with four fixed wheelchair places. Passenger facilities include a DVD player, front view camera, drinks machine, microwave, power points, USB points at every seat and WiFi. An Alcolock UK V3 unit is also specified, as well as Synectics CCTV and telematics system and many other extras.

Explaining the decision to order a Barbi Galileo, Richard Bamber, Managing Partner of Anthony’s Travel, said: “We were considering our fleet upgrades for next year and we already have a great working relationship with BASE/MAN and superb aftersales service.

“While there were other high quality vehicles available, the standardisation of our coach fleet to MAN and the back-up service we receive is second to none. Nothing is ever too much trouble from BASE.

“Whilst the Barbi may be seen as an unusual purchase, we always like our coaches to be different and stand out from the crowd. Barbi is able to provide a high quality bespoke product built entirely to our specification that few dealers are now able to offer.

“We have been launch customers before, in particular for the Neoplan Tourliner, so we are proud to be one of the first operators in the UK with a Barbi Galileo. It has real head-turning appeal, amazing luggage capacity and lots of little extras, we are confident it will be a great success for Anthonys and for our clients.”

Nick Dodgson, General Manager of BASE Ltd, added: “The new coach is fitted with MAN’s latest technology including Active Brake Assist and Lane Guard, on a 360bhp 10.5ltr Euro 6 / ZF EcoLife automatic transmission chassis with independent front suspension for a smoother passenger experience and safety.”
