Anthony’s Travel proved to be a real knock out in the community when it took sponsored boxer Brian ‘The Lion’ Rose to spend a day with some of its community partners.
Light middleweight boxing Champion Brian from Blackpool vacated his British and Intercontinental titles so he could campaign at the very highest world levels, however he brought his prized possessions to Runcorn to show his eager fans.
Brian’s visit included an audience at Palacefields Academy School where he did a question and answer session with the children and provided photo opportunities, onto Halton Haven Hospice for a visit to the fantastic recently launched Men’s Shed project for a chat with staff, patients and visitors. Then a meeting with members of the Mark Gorry Foundation where Brian talked about his own scare, awareness and the importance of checking regularly for signs of testicle cancer.
Richard Bamber, Partner of Anthony’s Travel, said: “It was really great to take Brian out and about within the community and show him some of the groups and organisations we get involved in.
“Meeting the children at Palacefields was great and they had loads interesting questions ? we had to promise the children we would return! The gentlemen at Halton Haven’s Men’s shed really loved their surprise guest and are already discussing planning a trip to Brian’s next fight at the end of June.”
