After a £3.2m investment, Arriva Buses Wales is adding 13 double-decker buses into its fleet.

The Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400 City double-deckers form part of Arriva’s premium fleet of Sapphire vehicles which will operate on routes between Wrexham and Chester, one of 15 of the operator’s routes that have been upgraded with the Sapphire service. The new service features spacious seating, USB charging points and free WiFi. The buses also come equipped with display screens and audio announcements.

The new buses will operate on service 1 up to every 10 minutes.

Michael Morton, Area MD at Arriva Buses Wales, said: “We’re pleased to welcome such a number of buses to the Wrexham depot. The Sapphire service was developed as a result of extensive consumer research, looking at what passengers want when travelling by bus, so we are delighted to be able to respond to that by giving our customers a service they have requested and to help improve the perceptions of travelling by bus.”
