Arriva bus driver Neil Atherton, from the operator’s Runcorn depot, is to walk 150 miles to raise money for Trussell Trust Food Banks.

After seeing many friends and regular customers on his bus route struggle during the coronavirus outbreak – some on furlough, some with children who have been at home and not receiving school meals, and some who have been isolating and relying on others to bring food parcels – Neil decided to make a difference in his local community by walking all of the bus routes that come from his depot in Runcorn.

This includes the 110, 61, 79C, 82A, X30, 3A and busway 1, totalling 150 miles (equivalent to 2,640 football pitches!).

Neil will be documenting his travels on his Facebook and Twitter accounts (@Neil69508623) and the Arriva North West social media feeds. He would love to chat with people along his journey and has urged people to come and say hi.

Trussell Trust provides people with emergency food parcels. Donations are very much appreciated and can be made at the following link: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/neil-atherton12
