Ashcroft Travel of Widnes has lost its office, much of its equipment and a quarter of its fleet in a suspected arson attack at the Golden Triangle industrial estate.

A number of surviving vehicles still sustained damage from the fire, with the keys to all 30 of them also melting as the office burnt to the ground.

Cheshire Police have arrested one 12-year-old and another 13-year-old boy suspected to have started the fire.

Around 16 fire engines, an aerial ladder platform and a National Police Air Service helicopter attended the scene when the fire broke out on Thursday 27, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Michelle Cook, Manager of Ashcroft and employee of 11 years, told the local paper: “We can’t go back on site so we are now basically homeless and need to find somewhere to store the 30 coaches we have left.

“We have been given a temporary place for a couple of days and the business next door have been amazing.

“The main issue we have currently is that all the keys for the vehicles were in the office and they have melted so we are not able to move the coaches.”

Despite losing so much in the blaze, she said that the company is determined to continue: “We will be continuing to take bookings and will continue to strive.”

Richard Bamber, Managing Partner of Anthony’s Travel, said in a public Facebook post: “This is every operator’s worst nightmare and my heart goes out to them. If anyone can offer any assistance, please can you contact Michelle on 07877 364506.”
