Scottish coach and bus operator Whitelaw’s has completed a full renewal programme of its bus fleet after taking delivery of a final four new Volvo B8RLE 10.8 metre buses supplied by Asset Alliance Group. The low carbon single deck buses with MCV Evora bodywork have been supplied on a four-year operating lease, and join a 36-strong fleet of coaches and buses operating from the firm’s Stonehouse depot, to the south-east of Glasgow.

The vehicles, which will mainly be operating on local service routes in South Lanarkshire, are part of a refreshed all-Volvo bus fleet which began to be delivered last summer, with Asset Alliance Group providing funding for more than 20 buses. Whitelaw’s Managing Director Sandra Whitelaw explained: “The latest Volvos are part of a full renewal programme of our local service buses which started in July 2021. These vehicles will be used to service the towns and rural areas we serve throughout Lanarkshire.

“The buses are low carbon certified and are as green and clean as a diesel engine can be, which is important for our business as we seek to reduce carbon emissions. We’re very keen to maintain our green credentials as a public transport provider.”

The Scottish operator has been working with Asset Alliance Group since 2015 and says it has benefited from a strong relationship with some of its senior executives for many years. Sandra added: “We replace our bus fleet every four to five years. Each time we benchmark Asset Alliance Group against other firms they just come out on top as the most competitive, making them our go-to provider.

“It is a professional organisation that consistently provides an excellent service and we have come to have complete trust in them. Asset Alliance Group has also played a key role in finding the best deal for financing our buses bought on hire purchase, too.”

Asset Alliance Group Sales Director for Bus and Coach Darren Fitzpatrick commented: “Whitelaw’s has been a long-standing customer and we are delighted to continue our support of such a prominent operator in the Scottish bus and coach sector.”

Entering its 50th year in business in 2023, Whitelaw’s provides local bus services and school transport throughout Lanarkshire as well as private coach hire throughout the UK and Ireland.
