Long-distance coach operator Greyhound, a part of UK-based FirstGroup, can now offer its passengers audio books to listen to during their journey, thanks to a deal between Audible and Greyhound’s media platform provider GoMedia. Passengers already had the option of TV and film entertainment on board, and can now listen to books from a wide variety of genres as they travel.

Todd Koch, Vice President of Strategy, Marketing and Consumer Engagement at Greyhound, said: “With more than 16 million people travelling to over 2,400 destinations on Greyhound, we’re always looking for new ways to improve our passenger experience. Since launching our onboard platform with GoMedia last year we’ve been able to offer Hollywood blockbusters and TV boxsets to Greyhound passengers. Adding Audible content enriches the service we provide, allowing customers to let their mind drift away as they get engrossed in a good story.”

GoMedia Managing Director Roger Matthews said: “Audiobooks are experiencing explosive growth worldwide, with numbers sold doubling between 2013 and 2018. Alongside Audible we’re extremely proud to mark our first spoken word deal, enabling Greyhound Buses to create enjoyable experiences for its passengers with a range of complementary Audible books, enriching the world-class film and TV content currently available.”
In addition, Greyhound has added a selection of films which features scenes of classic Greyhound buses, such as Dark Knight Rises and The Front Runner.
