Four historic buses which operated for municipal Coventry Corporation Transport will take to the streets of Coventry on Saturday 24 August to mark 45 years since the last rear entrance bus was operated in the city, reports Steven Knight.

The buses, from the collection of Midlands bus preservationist and restorer Roger Burdett, date from between 1940 and 1963. They will provide photo opportunities as they run between the city centre, Copsewood and Earlsdon – covering much of the route that the last rear entrance Daimler CVG bus travelled in 1979.

This year also marks 50 years since municipal bus services in Coventry were transferred to the West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive as a result of Local Government reorganisation.

The buses will start their journey from White Street Coach Park at 1000hrs. During the afternoon the buses visit other locations in the city.
