RATP Group-owned Bath Bus Company has opened its new workshops at its depot on Burnett Business Park near Keynsham, conveniently halfway between the firm’s key operating areas of Bath and Bristol.
Much of the building work was completed during the lockdown.
The depot area has substantially increased and brought operations closer together. Previously a smaller workshop was positioned some distance from the parking area but all activity is now on one site. The old building has already been occupied by another tenant, and in due course, drive-through wash and fuel facilities will be installed. The workshop pits and brake test rollers were installed by the company but building work was performed in conjunction with the landlord, and the extra costs involved are matched by staff savings: since the reorganisation, one Controller can oversee the site entrance and supervise all staff reporting for duty instead of two. Besides new offices and stores there is a training room where Driver CPC courses will be held.
“I am very pleased that Bath Bus Company’s new workshops at Burnett are now up and running – which is greatly improving efficiency, the working environment for staff and increases our ability to work simultaneously on more vehicles,” said Managing Director Martin Curtis.
