Belfast City Sightseeing has announced a Charity of the Year partnership with local charity Rosie’s Trust, which helps people receiving cancer treatment, end of life care and elderly people with a disability stay together with their pets. The charity, founded in 2015, offers peace of mind and practical support for people by helping care for pets through walking and exercising their dogs, emptying cat litters, taking pets on vet visits or providing short-term fostering when a person is in hospital.
Director of Belfast City Sightseeing Paul Cunningham said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Rosie’s Trust. Many of our staff and passengers are pet owners and know that pets are an important part of the family. More and more of our passengers are bringing their pets on holiday and we are pleased that all of our Belfast City Sightseeing Tour buses are dog friendly.
“We were shocked to learn that people often delay or refuse treatment because they are so worried about what would happen to their beloved companion pet while they were in hospital and that older people often face the heart-wrenching decision to give up a pet because they can no longer walk them. Rosie’s Trust’s teams of volunteers prevent this from happening and we are really looking forward to helping raising awareness of their services and helping to raise much needed funds to keep their important work going.”
