At its annual party, staff at Gloucester-based Bennetts Coaches held a charity raffle and auction for the second year running in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust (CFT). The Trust was chosen by Bennetts Coaches as the granddaughter of Martyn Starkey, one of its coach drivers, has the condition. £1,000 was raised on the night.

Recognising the efforts by all involved, Audrey Williams, CFT’s Regional Fundraising Manager South West said: “We are enormously grateful to all the staff of Bennetts Coaches for this donation. Cystic fibrosis is chronically misunderstood, kills thousands worldwide and is carried unknowingly in the genes of millions. It’s often invisible to the naked eye yet destroys lives, stopping them short, inflicting hardship and distress on those affected and their families and carers. Fighting it is a battle we must win and this money will be a great help towards that aim.”

Bennetts Coaches said it would like to thank all its employees and the many companies who very kindly donated raffle and auction prizes, all of whom contributed towards making the evening a success.

Organisations and individuals who donated prizes included Gloucester Rugby Club, Gillmans Electrical, Barbara’s Blinds, Autosmart, Continental Tyres, Holiday Inn Barnwood, EvoBus, Spirit Health & Fitness, the Priory Lodge Hotel in Newquay and Mr & Mrs Cuffe.
