A new coach drop-off point in Berwick-upon-Tweed is expected to be finished by the end of February, though there is still no announced timescale for a new coach park in the area.

The drop-off on Church Street has been under construction for several weeks, but the Berwick Advertiser reported that there is still no sign of activity on the Chapel Street coach park site.

A spokesman for Northumberland County Council said: “We are progressing with this project as quickly as we can, and are currently in discussions with affected adjoining properties. We don’t have a definite start date at this time.

“Work is progressing well on the coach drop off point – with new Caithness Stone flag paving having been laid and work now concentrating on the construction of the Doddington Stone planter and integrated wood seating, to be followed by finishing details.

“We expect that the drop off will be ready for use by the end of February.”
