Visitors with a valid UK driving licence will be able to experience driving a bus around a specially laid out course at the event, which takes place from 1000 to 1600hrs. There’ll be trips through the bus wash, behind the scenes tours, refreshments, children’s entertainment and much more.
“We are hoping as many people as possible will come along and enjoy the day,” said First spokesman Ady Culpin.
The depot, originally known as East Bank, cost more than £450,000 when new and had capacity for 150 buses. It was officially opened on 2 May 1961 by General Manager of Sheffield Transport Mr R C Moore, on his last day of duty. He planted a cherry tree and his wife an almond tree. which are still there.
The depot later passed to South Yorkshire PTE, Mainline and First.
