With the news that the iconic red and cream livery of Brighton & Hove is to undergo a makeover later this year, your outgoing Editor thought he would delve into the archives and find the rarest shot of the livery in action. 27 July 2012 found the coaching unit’s Irizar Century 509 on hire to the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) for the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. It was a requirement that all vehicles on hire had to have the operators’ names covered over, hence the vinyls in place of the fleet names. The Shard in the background was only three years old at this time.
