On hire to Stagecoach South for the service linking Chichester railway station with the racecourse during this year’s Goodwood Revival was this former Southdown ‘Queen Mary’ Northern Counties-bodied Leyland PD3/4, latterly with Seaford & District and now Portsmouth City Coaches. The former Brighton & Hove open-top Bristol FLF6G owned by Ian Manning and Sholto Thomas is a regular on the service and has been treated to a repaint. One of the vehicles hired by Chris Pearce of Worthing-based Southdown Historic Vehicles was a Salford City Transport Metro-Cammell-bodied Leyland PD2/40. Pictured at the racecourse is the Ecurie Ecosse 1960 Commer TS3 transporter with Alexander’s first aluminium body. Also on show as part of an ‘Italian job’ display was a Bedford VAL70 transporter masquerading as the Harrington Legionnaire original, but with every bit as rare Duple (Midland) bodywork.
