Most bus operators would love to have the technology of the Time Lords to convert their buses into Tardises with vast interiors that could carry lots of passengers. Sadly that still remains in the realms of science fiction. However four of Lothian Buses’ vehicles are carrying megarear advert wraps for the BBC Doctor Who ‘Worlds of Wonder’ experience running at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh until 1 May 2023. Richard Walter pictured one of the buses along with some Cybermen and Daleks patrolling the streets of Edinburgh to publicise the exhibition.

The exhibition brings a scientific perspective to the Doctor’s adventures, drawing on content from across the full canon of Doctor Who, asking questions such as ‘is time travel possible?’ and ‘could complex life exist on other planets?’ as well as ‘what would you sound like as a Dalek?’ – and of course, the exhibition (if not the bus) promises to be bigger on the inside than the outside!
