First in partnership with Abus is to begin operating a revised network of buses between Nailsea and Bristol from August 23 this year.

Service X8 has received a number of changes between Nailsea and Clevedon. It will operate via the Long Ashton bypass and therefore cease serving Long Ashton. This change is intended to speed up journeys between Backwell and Nailsea.

Portishead, Clevedon and Tickenham are also no longer served by this route, with First advising passengers in these area to use the A2 service, which will be extended to cover the parts of the X8 which are being withdrawn.

A new, later departure from Bristol is also being introduced, leaving Bristol Bus Station at 0020hrs on a trial basis.

A new service, the X9, is also being introduced. Like the X8 it will operate between Bristol and Nailsea, though it will be routed via Wraxall instead of Backwell. The service will run every 30 minutes during the day from Monday to Saturday, replacing the less frequent X10 service.

Some buses on the X9 will be operated by Abus on behalf of First. Abus will accept all valid First tickets, though not all ticket options will be available for purchase onboard.
