Bus companies step in as Buses Excetera goes under

BETC Ltd, which trades as Buses Excetera and has authorisation to operate 40 vehicles from its Merstham bus depot had six school routes and two bus routes, unexpectedly ceased trading on the morning of Monday 11 March.

Surrey Council was quick to arrange replacements for Buses Excetera’s commercial routes and local operators were also quick to respond by finding additional vehicles.

Falcon Buses sourcing two 68-plate ADL Enviro200MMCs to operate service 28 with, which goes from Guildford to Woking.

Arriva Surrey announced on Twitter that they would be taking over the 479 service by saying: “We are happy to announce that as of tomorrow (Saturday 16 March) we will be running service 479 (Guildford-Bookham-Leatherhead-Epsom.

All Buses Excetera tickets will be accepted until Friday 5 April.”

Arrangements for school services see’s Safeguard Coaches taking services 43/ 45, Cardinal Buses taking services 617/ 619 and Go-Ahead London taking services 618/ 668.

No further details are known about the collapse of the company at present.
