Bus services could be cut in rural Dorset in a bid to save £500,000.

According to the BBC, Dorset County Council plans to end subsidies for services that run once or twice a week, and encourage volunteer-run community transport schemes.

It said it was focussing on routes which ‘support Dorset’s economy by helping people get to school or work.’

A public consultation on the plans is being held before a cabinet decision on February 24. The consultation can be found at https://www.dorsetforyou.com/travel-dorset/2016-bus-review.
