BYD has announced the launch of a new medium-sized electric bus for the Japanese market. Deliveries of its new J7 are due to begin in the autumn of 2025. With a maximum capacity of 61 people, the medium-sized electric bus is equipped with BYD’s latest Blade Battery technology and boasts a single-charge range of up to 250 kilometres. The interior of the bus features a fully flat floor.

BYD says the bus has been designed to meet Japan’s rapid increase in demand for green public transport, and has expanded its portfolio following the introduction of five K9 electric buses to Kyoto in 2015. Since then, BYD added the J6, a small electric bus designed for community transport, and the K8, a 10.5-metre electric urban bus.
