Cardiff bus is continuing its collaboration with provider of real-time information, fleet management and ticketing solutions Ticketer with the successful fleet-wide roll-out of the company’s TK300 electronic ticket machine (ETM). The companies say the renewed commitment highlights a shared dedication to innovation, reliability, and enhancing the passenger experience.

In addition to upgrading to the advanced TK300 ETMs, Cardiff Bus will benefit from Ticketer’s road restriction alert system, with further feature enhancements expected later this year.

Featuring an Android-based driver console and new card reader, Ticketer says its new TK300 delivers improved driver usability, faster transactions and full compatibility with a wide range of modern payment methods, including American Express. “We’re delighted to be supporting Cardiff Bus as it upgrades its ETM estate to our latest TK300,” said Ticketer Chief Commercial and Operations Officer Adam Toone. “It’s fantastic to see continued investment in modern, passenger-focused technology in the region. With the TK300, Cardiff Bus is now equipped with our fastest, most capable ticketing technology, future-proofing its services and enabling seamless travel for its community.”

Commercial and Operations Director at Cardiff Bus Gareth Stevens added: “We are pleased to continue our long-standing partnership with the team at Ticketer, having started that journey in 2013. Working collaboratively in that time we have deployed some of the new initiatives as they have arisen, for example being early adopters of the EMV and QR capabilities.
“This has allowed us to keep our ticketing range modern and fresh – especially as we have seen several changes in recent years in our customers preferences for flexible ticketing options. The ability to continually reinvest in our business is one that we are proud of – and look forward to the benefits for staff and customers alike.”

Ticketer plans to launch a new voice messaging and broadcast option later this year which will facilitate two-way communication between controllers and drivers, via the TK300’s driver console, microphone and speakers. Additionally, the company says that the TK300’s driver console is in development to be detachable in future, further leveraging the Android-tablet’s in-built camera and allowing more efficient vehicle walk-around checks to be logged digitally.
