Family-run Kent operator Chalkwell Coaches has selected Omnibus software to help it build its timetables and schedules efficiently. Established in 1931, Chalkwell has a fleet of 55 vehicles with a PVR (peak vehicle requirement) of 21 for local services, and uses Omnibus consultancy for roadside timetable publicity.
Under the new agreement, the operator will replace its manual processes with Omnibus’ OmniTIMES for compiling complex timetables, OmniBASE for producing accurate vehicle schedules, CrewPLAN for creating compliant driver duties and TransXChange tools for seamless data exchange. Together, Omnibus says the solutions will provide Chalkwell with capabilities to grow patronage, maximise revenue, improve efficiency and accuracy, and deliver outstanding customer service.
Chalkwell Managing Director Roland Eglinton said: “We currently use spreadsheets for timetables and driver duty cards, which is creating errors and costing more time in the running of the operation. With Omnibus, we will be able to reduce costs by easily modelling scenarios and seeing what each change means for efficiencies and how that affects driver shifts.”
Peter Crichton, Founder of Omnibus, added: “We are pleased to forge a stronger relationship with Chalkwell Coaches. In this challenging operating environment, it is paramount for operators to realise efficiency savings with flexible modelling tools that are also reliable. With capability to build timetables and schedules efficiently, Chalkwell Coaches will be better placed to respond to operating changes quickly and effectively.”
