Major progress has been made on the rebuild of a 1939 Bristol K double-decker to become a committee resource in the area where it operated. GKE 68 was new to Medway-based Chatham & District Traction in 1939 and is one of few double-deckers from its era to retain the original body.

Friends of Chatham Traction was formed in March 2007 to restore the by then semi-derelict bus, which had been in preservation since 1960. Now the bodywork has finally been completed by South East Coachworks and the vehicle moved elsewhere in Kent for other works to be carried out.
