Oxford Bus Company has undertaken two tours of Oxford and the surrounding area with its ‘Christmas Lights Bus’.

The first tours were carried out to line up with the Oxford Lights Festival last month, which saw a decorated City Sightseeing Oxford open-top bus lead a tour. Thanks to an overwhelming positive public response to the event Oxford Bus Company and Jack FM decided to fund another three tours last week.

Up to 10 volunteers from local charities KEEN Oxford, Yellow Submarine and Mencap will helped make it an event to remember. They were on board, dressed in Christmas clothing and helping to deliver presents to disabled children and young people on bus routes around Oxford. The sparkly bus played soundtracks created by Jack FM.

It visited areas including Oxford city centre, Cowley, Iffley, Headington, Wood Farm, Blackbird Leys, Horspath, Risinghurst, Marston, Radley, Kennington, Abingdon, Wootton, Cumnor, Botley and Cutteslowe.

Phil Southall, Oxford Bus Company Managing Director said: “The Oxford Lights Festival helped spread so much cheer during a challenging time for us all and so we decided to take it a step further. We will be operating another three ‘Christmas Lights Bus’ tours around Oxford in partnership with Jack FM and three local charities. We’re pleased to be giving something back and are looking forward to helping share some goodwill and joy at Christmas in a Covid-safe way.”
