Blackpool Transport is to buy 10 Mercedes-Benz Citaros. The buses, due for delivery in March, will have 45 leather seats each, charging points and free WiFi.

Bob Mason, Director of delivery at Blackpool Transport, said: “This is a really major investment and is really positive for the company and for everyone in Blackpool. We haven’t purchased brand new vehicles since 2010, but we have to keep investing in the fleet.”

In Scotland McGill’s Bus Services has taken delivery of 14 Citaros that are being used on ClydeFlyer routes between Largs and Dunoon and Glasgow city centre. Each bus has 41 seats finished in part leather-fabric upholstery with the McGill’s logo stitched into each headrest. There’s also wood-effect flooring and LED lighting.

Ralph Roberts, McGill’s Managing Director said: “These buses will be the first Euro 6 fleet in Glasgow city centre and the technology – which gives a 95% reduction in NOx emissions over the Euro 5 – is great news for the city, pedestrians, passengers and the environment in general.”
