Coach operator City Circle, which operates from depots in west London and Edinburgh, has taken delivery of 20 new Scania coaches – making its 54-vehicle fleet entirely Scania.
Destined for the firm’s new purpose-built London operation, the new vehicle order consists of 18 Scania K 410 6×2*4 chassis with 13.2m Irizar i6S bodywork and two Scania K 360 4×2 chassis with 10.8m Irizar i6S bodywork.
All of the new coaches come equipped with Scania’s fully-automated Opticruise gearbox, and were ordered to replace existing vehicles as part of the firm’s three-year fleet renewal process.
The 13.2m models are all 53-seaters, and feature centre sunken toilets and washrooms, Frenzel kitchen units, reversing cameras and integrated sat-nav.
Meanwhile, the 10.8m variants each have 36 seats, a rear floor-mounted toilet and washroom, and a servery and fridge units fitted at the rear by AD Coach Systems.
All 20 vehicles have dark-tinted glass and Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels as well as WiFi, a CCTV system and USB charging points for all the passengers.
The company says the new vehicles will be used for its incoming tourism and corporate charter groups.
Scania’s OnBoard telematics service is included with the vehicles – as on all brand-new coaches from the manufacturer.
The telematics package records driver and vehicle performance data and reports directly to the customer by email on a weekly basis.
City Circle has also taken advantage of the driver and technical training Scania offers, which is available to all retail customers of their new coaches.
Neil Pegg, Managing Director of City Circle (UK) Limited, said: “Since I began working with Scania I’ve been impressed with the product and their service, and we’ve gone on to have a very strong working relationship.
“We have a high-profile client base, so I need to ensure we have products we know are high quality and reliable.
“We are often running at 100% fleet utilisation, so it’s important you have products that you can trust.”
