Scania GB Ltd has won a major order from Hayes, Middlesex-based City Circle UK Ltd in a 20 Scania Irizar i6 deal, representing one of Scania’s largest UK retail coach orders for at least 20 years.
The order has been won as a result of the successful season of operation of the 16 Scania Irizar i6 coaches purchased by City Circle last year, together with the ongoing positive operating experience enjoyed by the company with regard to the six Scania Irizar i6’s it took during 2013 and 2014.
The latest order comprises 16 tri-axle 12.9m overall length models and four 4×2 10.8m vehicles.
The tri-axles carry a 410bhp Euro 6 engine and fully automated Opticruise transmission. They each have a seating capacity of 53, utilising leather reclining seats. Additional features include Durabright aluminium wheels, reversing and road cameras, integrated sat-nav and USB charging points.
The smaller two-axle coaches contain 36 half-leather reclining seats and are powered by 360bhp Euro 6 engines, along with the same transmission. They have a high specification, including a rear floor-mounted toilet/washroom, an extensive servery at the rear of the coach with built in units for fridges and drinks facilities fitted by A&D coach systems, twin monitors, fully furnished seat back facilities, dark tinted glass and Durabright aluminium wheels.
City Circle UK Managing Director Neil Pegg said: “The feedback we have received from our drivers and passengers has been excellent this season for the Scania Irizar product.
“The vehicles have performed superbly, and the back-up we have received from Scania during an extremely busy year has been second-to-none. When making the decision on our front line fleet for 2016, choosing to invest in Scania Irizar was an easy one to make.
“I look forward to these new coaches enhancing further the quality experience we strive to give our discerning customers.”
Scania GB General Manager of Retail Sales, Martin West, added: “We are delighted to have supplied City Circle with these superbly specified vehicles to add to their prestigious fleet and growing number of Scania coaches.
“All of the vehicles include our 10-year fleet management information package, and will benefit from our bespoke driver training prior to delivery. Also included is a day’s technical familiarisation at our Loughborough centre, a service we recently launched to further enhance our ever-expanding package of added-value services when investing in Scania.”
