Citybus has joined in with celebrating Chinese New Year, which will be taking place without pandemic restrictions for the first time this year. The streets of Hong Kong are set to come alive, says the operator, with best wishes from its specially decorated Year of the Dragon buses.

“This year, we take our blessings to new heights with the inclusion of the Chinese New Year decorative livery to our Cityflyer services. You may witness the dragon dancing on Tsing Ma Bridge, a vital link between the airport, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and the heart of our city. Come on board and immerse yourself in the joyous atmosphere of the holidays,” the operator said.

The operator partnered with the local creative partnership FAF – Finger And Fish, to design the decorative livery with the theme of ‘Rise with Dragon.’ The legendary dragon, with its red body, symbolises auspiciousness, good luck and abundance, and dragon dances, which have been long revered as symbols of good luck, are an essential part of Chinese celebrations.

“Our utmost goal is to curate an unforgettable and warm welcome for visitors as they embark on their journey in Hong Kong, accompanied by our heartfelt blessings. Hence, we introduced the Chinese New Year decorative livery to our Cityflyer services this year, deploying mainly on route A11 which brings tourists to the heart of Hong Kong Island,” the company said.

The liveries, applied to ADL and Wrightbus double-deckers, pay homage to the year of the dragon. CITYBUS
