Specialist in performance optimisation for the public transport CitySwift has announced a deal to continue to supply its systems to Reading Buses, following a successful trial. The operator’s strong year-over-year performance, which saw increased bus punctuality and growth in passenger usage, has led to the roll-out of the platform to its entire commercial network, CitySwift says.

Since implementing CitySwift’s performance optimisation platform in 2023, Reading Buses says it has seen improvements of 9.1% and 14.2% in punctuality on two of the trial corridors.

Brian O’Rourke, CEO and co-founder of CitySwift, said: “Following last year’s strong performance, we are delighted to extend our partnership with Reading Buses, supporting the operator’s commitment to improving bus services and furthering our goal of making public transport the mode of choice for all.”

Commercial Manager at Reading Buses Gemma Redson added: “We are thrilled to extend our relationship with CitySwift, and to be leading the way in the UK in the application of data and insights, which are essential to providing our customers with an efficient and cost-effective bus service. Our experienced schedulers and network planners are able respond decisively through using CitySwift’s analytics and optimisation tools, increasing their efficiency and decreasing late running for customers who depend on our bus services.”
