Immaculate standards of presentation mean it’s hard to tell that one coach is two decades older. ADRIAN MORTON

With the 69th UK Coach Rally having been held the weekend prior to this edition of the magazine being published, I thought it fitting that two weeks beforehand I make a visit to the well-known and highly respected operator Bibby’s of Ingleton. Bibby’s is a fervent supporter of the rally, having entered every year since 1971, with Peter Bibby and son Chris winning numerous awards over the years for not just the coaches but the Director’s Challenge and coveted Coach Driver of the Year title. Ingleton is situated in the West Riding of North Yorkshire, close to its border with Lancashire and just inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The village sits at the bottom of the famous three peaks and is renowned as being possibly the most stunning in the area. The day chosen couldn’t have been more fitting for my visit, with bright sunshine and clear blue skies making for a spectacular drive once I’d left the M6 at Lancaster. It was then time to find out more over a cup of Yorkshire Tea with Peter and Chris. What I’ve always most wanted to know is where their work comes from, as there are very few chimney pots, nor indeed any obvious industrial or corporate clientele, nearby.
