Connexions Buses has named a bus in memory of Brian Horner at a ceremony at its depot at Tockwith, York.
Brian, a former General Manager of West Yorkshire Road Car Company in Harrogate and latterly a Deputy Traffic Commissioner for the North-East Traffic area, died after a short illness on September 11 aged 80. He had been a busman for all his working life.
Craig Temple, Managing Director of Connexions Buses, said: “Brian was a true gentleman and gave us a lot of moral support in what is a difficult environment for small independent bus operators.”
Sheila’ Brian’s widow stated “Brian would have been very proud that he has been remembered in this way.”
Alec Horner, MD of Minimise Your Risk and Brian’s Cousin, said: “Brian is one of the reasons I got into the coach and bus industry, as when I went with my parents to his parents’ house in Keswick, I used to sit in the corner and read Brian’s copies of ‘Buses Illustrated.”
