Corethree has released its September data, which reveals a rapid acceleration in the UK’s adoption of mobile ticketing as the choice of the travelling public as they returned to work, school and university after the summer break.
With its mobile-data intelligence platform, Core Engine, processing 21,000 requests per minute at its peak whilst latency remained under 100 milliseconds, September has been a record-breaking month, with over 800,000 m-tickets bought in one week, generating £7,250,000 in sales.
The highest number of m-tickets – 175,000 – were sold on Monday 30 September 2019, with half of these being processed before 0900hrs. Data from the same day in 2018, when £1.44m worth of m-tickets were sold compared to this year when £2m worth were sold, shows a 30% increase in m-ticket sales.
“September is always our busiest month, but these figures have surpassed our expectations and prove that the market demand from consumers and businesses for mobile ticketing is growing at an accelerated rate with no sign of stopping anytime soon,” said Ashley Murdoch, CEO of Corethree.
“Our September numbers speak for themselves, showing that as our transport partners’ m-ticketing user-base continues to grow, we are more than ready and able to meet demand and help create smoother journeys.”
