The Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA) has confirmed that the first tranche of bus services improvements across the region will see eight existing routes benefit, of which seven are operated by Stagecoach East and one by Whippet. The funding for Stagecoach has included frequency enhancements on Busway services.

Frequency improvements are also being made to the Peterborough-Huntingdon route 904 which is operated by Dews on behalf of Stagecoach. A further Stagecoach single-decker will be placed with Dews to operate the improved service.

Funding has come from the Mayoral Bus Service Precept which the CPCA says will raise £11.05m during the current financial year and will fund 30 improved or new services this year. A CPCA spokesperson said: “All of this first tranche has been approved for an initial 12 month period, with monitoring and evaluation to take place over that period, focused on reliability and patronage growth.”
