Maxson Goh reports from the 2025 CPT Annual Conference held in London on 25 January

This year, the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) brought together a record-breaking 175 delegates to its annual conference held at the Park Plaza Hotel in London. CBW was kindly invited to attend the event, consisting of discussions including the Government’s economic growth agenda and its implications for the bus and coach sector, the evolving coach market, and strategies for decarbonisation. Other topics for discussion included integrating a ‘bus first’ approach into urban planning, attracting new customers and driving growth in public transport use.

Opening address

After guests were treated to breakfast, the conference was opened by CPT Chief Executive Graham Vidler, who extended a warm welcome to all the attendees. He said: “I hope that today will be an opportunity to share new ideas, hear fresh perspectives, and leave feeling inspired about the future.” He then introduced Simon Lightwood, Minister for Local Transport, as the keynote speaker, marking his third appearance at a CPT conference and first since entering government.
