The Confederation of Passenger Transport UK (CPT) has launched ‘CPT Daily Checks,’ a complete first-use and daily walk round check app designed specifically for the coach and bus industry.

Launched in partnership with TruTac at CPT’s annual Coaching Conference at Volvo’s UK headquarters in Warwick on November 15, CPT Daily Checks allows drivers to record and report at the touch of a button (on mobile or tablet) any vehicle defects identified either prior to a coach or bus entering service or at a later point during the day. The paperless system also offers drivers an option to submit supporting photographic evidence and explanatory notes for any defect.

The accompanying back-office system provides designated personnel with instant access to each vehicle’s full walk round maintenance history program, which includes details of reported defects, actions taken and information on the person(s) responsible for carrying out any required maintenance and repairs. The system also contains a full log of the times, dates and places that defects were reported along with support provided.

The CPT Daily Checks’ Compliance Management System complies with all regulations as well as DVSA guidance on inspections and service maintenance records.

Key features of the app include:

  • Industry approved templates for coach and bus operators;
  • Individual driver alerts;
  • Simple notes and defects pages;
  • Instant access to a wide range of reports; and
  • Seamless integration with CPT Tacho Analysis.

CPT’s Technical Executive, John Taylor, said: “We are proud to have worked closely with our Commercial partner TruTac over the past nine months during the development and launch of this new system.

“The app is easy to use and makes drivers’ first use and periodic walk round checks, and the subsequent reporting of any defects, a simple and effective process.

“We have a range of app packages available to suit bus and coach operators of all sizes. Over a third of our members use CPT Tacho Analysis and we are expecting the same high levels of demand for CPT Daily Checks.”

Jemma James, Commercial Director at TruTac, added: “As the recognised voice of the coach and bus industry, we are delighted to have established a successful partnership with CPT.

“Its high operational and engineering standards provided the perfect knowledge base for CPT Daily Checks and we look forward to developing further initiatives together in the future.”
