Daimler Buses products have recently been delivered to two operators on behalf of major sports teams. A new Mercedes-Benz team touring coach has been delivered to Cologne operator Elmar Weinzierl Omnibustouristik for Viktoria Köln 1904 e.V. whilst Autobus Oberbayern is adding a Setra touring coach to its fleet for the first division basketball team of FC Bayern Munich.
The new team vehicle for Viktoria Köln is a black, top-of-the-range 13-metre Mercedes-Benz Tourismo, which entered service in mid-February as a ‘mobile clubhouse’ for the team.
The tri-axle coach has 30 luxuriously upholstered seats, including a seating and reclining area at the rear with a lounge area comprising seats facing each other and two electrically retractable tables. The rear seats can be converted into two bunks using an upholstered table cover, and the tables at 16 other seats can be folded down electrically to create padded leg rests. Three 19-inch LCD screens are fitted, along with a kitchenette, WC and a comprehensive multimedia package with WiFi.
Meanwhile in Bavaria, Munich-based Autobus Oberbayern is adding a Setra S 517 HD touring coach to its fleet. One of the first vehicles of the next-generation Setra ComfortClass coaches, it will be used as a new team coach by the first division basketball team of FC Bayern Munich. It is fitted with 40 Setra Voyage plus travel seats with individually adjustable comfort headrests, including seats around tables. An integrated kitchenette is also fitted, along with four 21.5-inch LCD HD video monitors, and the coach is finished in the club’s colours.
