The bus industry isn’t always top of the list for university graduates looking to kickstart their careers. For Sarah Dyer it was a perfect fit though, as she explained to Peter Jackson
“When I told my friends I was going to Stagecoach, they all said, ‘you’re just going to be a glorified bus driver!’ They didn’t really understand what was involved,” recalled Sarah Dyer, currently in her second year of training for an Operations Manager role in Stagecoach’s graduate scheme She’s progressed quickly in her short time in the industry, and is rightly proud of how far she’s come: “Now I’ve moved into management, I can say I’m one of the managers at a depot with nearly 400 staff. I’m proud of that, because it is quite an achievement,” she said. Today, she’s an Assistant Operations Manager at Stagecoach Manchester’s Stockport depot, having previously completed part of her training in Northampton with Stagecoach Midlands.
