GERMANY DB Regio Bus, Germany’s largest bus operator, has signed a framework agreement for the supply of up to 815 local and regional buses from MAN Truck & Bus.
It comprises up to 435 city and intercity buses worth around €100m in 2015 and 2016. For 2017 and 2018, DB Regio Bus has an option for a further 380 vehicles worth around €90m. Models will be include Lion’s City, Lion’s City Ü and Lion’s City G/GÜ types in various vehicle lengths and in low- floor versions. All vehicles will be equipped with Euro 6 engines. The buses will also feature topographydependent gearbox control, which MAN said further reduces fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
This system automatically activates the most efficient gearshift programme, depending on whether it is on an uphill or downhill stretch.
DB Regio Bus is responsible for the regional bus and urban transport operations of stateowned rail operator Deutsche Bahn. These include a network of 22 bus companies and interests in more than 70 transport companies and associations throughout Germany.
