Dennis & friends give preservation some ‘busonality’

CBW correspondant and member of the Leicester Transport Heritage Trust Emily Whitlam has produced a series of digital personas based on the Trust’s vehicles, with added faces and ‘busonalities’ to help make the Trust more appealing to children and families. The main character, Dennis, is based on UFP 233S and has been gradually introducing all of his ‘friends’ on the Trust’s Instagram account @dennis.n.friends.

Emily said: “For those of you who attended Leicester Transport Heritage Trust’s Bus and Train Spectacular in May, you may have noticed that UFP 233S, a 1977 Dennis Dominator preserved by the Trust, was smiling at you. Affectionately named ‘Dennis’, 233 has now been given a ‘busonality,’ along with several other Trust vehicles, and has become an Instagram sensation with the aim of encouraging young families to get involved in Leicester Transport Heritage Trust. The project has been set up with the help of Tina Barton from the Documentary Media Centre.
