Mellor has announced the delivery of 10 Orion accessible buses to East Ayrshire Council, marking a significant upgrade to the council’s previous fleet, purchased in 2019. The new vehicles will be operated by Coalfield Community Transport, ensuring continued accessibility and comfort for the community.

The council says the delivery of the new buses highlights its commitment to providing modern, inclusive transportation solutions. Mellor says its Orion stands out as the only completely flat low-floor bus on the market, with a ‘class-leading’ floor height of 250mm and a design which facilitates easy access via folding ramps, eliminating the need for tail lifts and so reducing maintenance requirements. The Orion’s layout offers flexible seating for up to 16 passengers and accommodation for up to five wheelchairs, underscoring its dedication to inclusivity and passenger dignity.

Mellor added that East Ayrshire Council’s decision to return to the brand for its fleet replacement underscores the trust and satisfaction in the manufacturer’s innovative, reliable, and accessible transportation solutions.
