Dutch manufacturer Ebusco has unveiled an 18m version of its lightweight electric 3.0 single-decker. Thanks to the use of lightweight composites, the Ebusco 3.0 articulated bus has a starting weight of just 14,500kg and offers a claimed range of up to 700 kilometres on a single charge plus a maximum capacity of 150 passengers.
By using floor-integrated batteries, the 3.0 bus has a low centre of gravity, and because of the lightweight structure, all axles can be equipped with single tyres which makes it possible to create an extra-wide 90cm aisle from front to rear, which increases the flow throughout the bus and makes the bus more accessible also for people with physical disabilities and for prams.
Ebusco says it has already received several orders for the bus over the past year and plans to further scale up production with a dedicated production line for articulated buses to meet demand.
CEO of Ebusco Peter Bijvelds said: “I am immensely proud that we are presenting this ground-breaking 18-metre bus today.
With about a third of our workforce working in R&D and engineering, we continuously manage to develop at high speed. This has now resulted in the lightest and most efficient articulated bus in the world.”
