HONG KONG: Alexander Dennis has delivered another nine Enviro500EV zero-emission double-deck buses to Hong Kong’s MTR Corporation. The buses are part of a larger order for 35 next-generation Enviro500EVs.

A pre-production vehicle entered service in June 2024 as the Corporation’s first electric bus, with additional vehicles following in January 2025 ahead of the delivery of the remaining examples throughout this year and next. MTR Corporation provides feeder bus services to Hong Kong’s Mass Transit Railway urban rail system for residents in the Northwest New Territories, carrying a daily average of over 160,000 passengers with a fleet of over 170 buses.

In MTR Corporation’s specification, the 12m long double-deckers seat 86 passengers and have room for one wheelchair user. All seats are fitted with three-point belts. Managing Director for the Asia Pacific region at Alexander Dennis Andy Boulton said: “Our next-generation Enviro500EV has been designed from the ground up for the demands of Hong Kong’s world class transport system to deliver sizeable passenger capacity alongside operational flexibility. We’re honoured to be the MTR Corporation’s partner for its bus fleet electrification and are delighted to continue the delivery of this major contract.”
