East Yorkshire Motor Services (EYMS) has opened consultation with staff to close its Cliff Road, Hornsea depot from Saturday, May 5, 2018.

The decision to close the depot has been taken as its services can be run from the nearby Hull and Beverley depots, significantly reducing costs. A slump in revenue generated by East Riding of Yorkshire Council contracts – combined with free concessionary travel reimbursement – has necessitated considerable business-wide spending reductions.

Should the closure go ahead as planned after the consultation period, the depot’s 27 drivers and engineers will all be offered roles elsewhere in the company.

The depot’s regular 240 and 246 services to Hull, the 550 Hornsea Town Service, service 129 to Withernsea and service 130 to Bridlington will continue to run, albeit with timetable changes due to be announced at a later date.
